Low Density Lipoprotein: What Is LDL Cholesterol?

LDL cholesterol in medical description stands for Low-Density Lipoprotein. It is nowadays given the nickname of “bad cholesterol”. LDL cholesterol is a form of lipoprotein that moves triglycerides and cholesterol to peripheral tissues, from the liver. All lipoproteins, including low-density lipoprotein, can be used to transport fat and cholesterol through the bloodstream along its water-based solution.

Unfortunately some people with numbers of LDL cholesterol over the normal cholesterol levels may have no apparent symptoms, despite the elevated levels. There for cholesterol is reasoned as “a silent killer”. Xanthelasma, in which cholesterol collects below the skin, may be noticed in some individuals with this condition. They are similar to yellow in color, and often show up near the eyelids. However raised LDL cholesterol level may not be the underlying medical cause, as other issues could also have brought on the xanthelasma in the patient.
